Tesla used to complain of seeing images in his head which were so vivid that sometimes he used to have trouble holding a conversation.
All of his inventions stemmed from these images including ac/dc electrics , x ray photos , neon lighting, robotics, hydro electrics and remote control.
He was able to conduct an experiment in his minds eye to see if it would be successful. What he was doing is accessing these records.
