The past few weeks, as you know, haven’t been good to this site. I’d like to take a moment to let everyone know what is going on, why there was a downtime, and what will be happening in the near future.

What happened?!?!?

Well, to cut it down to a short story – Jason, the moderator you originally came to know, sold the site several months ago as he no longer had adequate opportunities to keep everything updated. Rather than let the site fall by the wayside and leave all of his readers high and dry, he opted to sell the website. Myself and one other person have been running this site since then, although it did not officially belong to us. Seeing as how we didn’t own the site, the only things we were able to do were add posts, publish user submitted posts, and moderate comments. All other decisions, updates, etc. were in the hands of the new owner.

Why the downtime?

Fast forward to the recent weeks – The site owner needed to move ETI to a new server. In doing so, several small pieces of the admin panel stopped working. We were working with the owner to try to get everything resolved, but alas… the new owner decided it was too much of a hassle to try to get the site working again. Since the site wasn’t ours, we couldn’t get into the code files to start fixing things.

So now what?

Well, here’s a bit of GOOD news! The site owner decided he didn’t want to deal with ETI anymore, and so now – it belongs to us! Well just who in the heck are we, anyway?? Online, I go by SilentPen. I am a writer, a graphic designer, a mother, a wife, and… well… now I’m co-owner and co-moderator of this website. My partner goes by Lightscribe, and I’m sure she’ll be adding her own introduction later on today, so I’ll leave it to her to introduce herself. I can assure you, she’s very much a part of “our crowd”, so-to-speak.

I’m sure by now you’re wondering what this means for ETI… I don’t blame you! I was pretty worried about it myself, for a while there. Let me start by saying that we’ve been moderating the site for several months now, so you can expect the same interesting, frequent posts as there were before the recent fiasco. We aren’t going to sell you out to someone else, and we most certainly will NOT be closing the virtual doors on ETI. On the contrary, we’ve got some great ideas that we’re hoping to implement in the near future. First, though, we need to get these darn images working again – which happens to be the last bit of the Admin panel that we still need to get fixed. We agreed, though, that it was better to have posted without images, than not to have posted at all.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, several posts finally went live today, sans images. To those who’ve contributed content – a huge, heartfelt thank you to you! Please feel free to continue to contribute – we love it when our readers share their knowledge! Our sincerest apologies for having your contributions locked in the Admin panel for so long.  Please forgive us, readers, for anything that was posted today that is now outdated.

We’re excited to now be in control of ETI, and we hope to continue to improve the quality of the information we share with you. We cannot thank you enough for standing by us through the past few weeks, and we promise to do our best not to let you down.
